Meet the Pastor
I
would like to personally welcome you to our web site. It's packed with information
and is constantly expanding. Enjoy.
Let
me introduce myself and my family. Jenelle and I have been happily married for
31 years. We both became Christians in 1974 and since then have ministered within
Calvary fellowships teaching Bible Studies and overseeing Sunday School and youth
ministries. I have a master's degree in Social Work and prior to pastoring, for
eleven years I enjoyed working with developmentally disabled adults. I also have
a teaching credential and have taught fourth and fifth graders in public school
for eight years. I am grateful that the Lord has used these experiences to shape
my life for His purposes
My wife Jenelle
is active in women's and children's ministries as well as missions. She has taught
in elementary schools for over 30 years, mostly as a Resource Specialist. Our
daughter, Christina, is now twelve and enjoys soccer, basketball, and swimming.
I
replaced Pastor Dan Finfrock as pastor of Calvary Chapel of the Pass in 1985.
Pastor Dan's vision for missions led him to the Philippines where he began Intensive
Care Ministries (ICM), training indigenous pastors in inductive Bible study. Happily
this ministry has trained many thousands worldwide
Missions
have always been an important part of Calvary Chapel. The Lord called us to minister
in Baja among the farm laborers from Oaxaca , and more recently we helped produce
an evangelistic film called God's Story, now in over 75 languages.
Most
recently Calvary has acquired six acres in Beaumont on which we plan to build
a new church. Watch our web site for a simulated guided tour.
Jenelle
and I look forward to meeting many of you and invite you to enjoy our web site
to familiarize yourself with our church. We would be happy to answer any questions
you may have, and would be pleased to hear from you either by email of phone.
Better yet come and visit with us. We pray that the Lord will lead you to the
fellowship that will best minister to you and your family.
May
the Lord bless you and keep you through His tender mercies and love,
Pastor
Chris Johnson
